Oh yes, Prince or that artist formerly known as Prince who became Prince again.
Remember his song – Party Like It’s 1999? A kind of tune that just sticks in your head!
Well, here it is (forgive me for the ad at the beginning):
Prince was an American singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, record producer, actor and director.
He was a musical innovator who was known for his flamboyant stage presence, eclectic work, extravagant dress and makeup as well as his wide vocal range.
His music represented a wide variety of styles, which included funk, rock, jazz, R&B as well as other styles. He was very successful and sold over 100 million records worldwide.
He was one of the best-selling music artists of all time according to Wikipedia. His awards included eight Grammy Awards, six American Music Awards and a Golden Globe Award. He also received an Academy Award for the film, Purple Rain.
He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004, his first year of eligibility.
Sadly, Prince died of a fentanyl overdose at his Paisley Park recording studio and home in Chanhassen, Minnesota, on April 21, 2016, at the age of 57.
